Asked before every smart lighting project
Do you have to rewire my house?
Usually not. Control4 dimmers and keypads replace your existing switches in the same boxes, and smart outlets convert standard outlets with no special wiring. New construction gets centralized lighting options too — our founder is a Certified Control4 Centralized Lighting Technician.
Can I change the scenes myself later?
Yes. The Control4 app lets you tune scenes, schedules, and timers yourself. For bigger changes, we handle most reprogramming remotely — no truck roll needed.
What happens to my lights if the internet goes out?
They keep working. Control4 lighting runs locally in the house — keypads, dimmers, and schedules don't depend on the cloud. You only lose remote access from outside until the connection returns.
Do smart dimmers work with my existing fixtures and LED bulbs?
Almost always. Control4 dimmers replace your current switches and drive the fixtures you already own; we verify LED compatibility during the design walk-through so nothing flickers or hums after install.
